Transforming a 1960s condo through a modern, open layout
This 1,000-square-foot condominium in San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood showcases a thoughtful redesign to maximize space and highlight the stunning San Francisco Bay views. By opening up small, previously enclosed rooms, we optimized the layout, making the living area feel more spacious while capturing the natural light and iconic scenery.
Defining spaces with warm mahogany cabinetry
The redesigned layout features elegant mahogany corridor cabinet walls that not only define the central circulation but also provide ample storage and display space for art and artifacts. This rich wood finish introduces a warm, inviting contrast to the crisp white walls that line the apartment’s perimeter.
Enhancing daylight with translucent glass elements
To balance light throughout the space, vertical translucent glass openings in the corridor walls transfer natural light from the view side of the apartment to the interior, creating a bright and harmonious atmosphere.
Key materials in this San Francisco redesign
Beech wood flooring
Quarter-sawn sapele wood
Thermofoiled kitchen cabinetry
By incorporating these high-quality materials and an efficient design, this Russian Hill condo renovation offers a modern, open feel with a strong connection to San Francisco’s scenic beauty.
