The Jerome Creek Lodge at Sugar Bowl is the first of a four-phase project for ski-in/ski-out condominiums at the base of Mt. Judah. The first phase consists of 23 units ranging from 900 sqft to 1,500 sqft. Many Tahoe area ski resorts are recently adopting European-type ski town architecture. We felt this project needed to return to indigenous California mountain elements rather than imitating foreign buildings out of context. The overall design is derived from mining machinery employed during the Gold Rush and the camps that supported them. Each phase is sited in such a manner that it evokes a mining village that sprung up around the complicated mining head structure in days past. Site signage towers resemble trestled railroad bridge supports and conduct the public through the open plaza. Exterior materials used are vertical cedar board and batt siding, metal roofing, and exposed concrete.Materials:• cedar board & batt• concrete• metal roofing
